Media experts have underscored the need of making government and private media inclusive. At an interaction organized by Press Council Nepal on ‘Status of Women Journalists and Challenges

They Face’ on Thursday, the speakers said the media houses must have proportional participation of women, dalit, Madhesi, and indigenous. On the occasion, Council Chairman Borna Bahadur Karki, expressed worry why Nepali media have little participation of women. Time has come to make media women friendly, he added .

He appealed to all media to implement Journalist’s Code of Conduct 2016.
Chief Editor at the Gorkhapatra daily, Pushkar Mathema, said a separate reservation system should be put in place to ensure women’s participation in media. Women journalists of new generation must be encouraged to retain the journalism profession, he added.
