Chief Editor at the Gorkhapatra daily, Pushkar Mathema, said a separate reservation system should be put in place to ensure women’s participation in media. Women journalists of new generation must be encouraged to retain the journalism profession, he added.

Paper presenters duo Subechha Bindu Tuladhar and Meera Rajbhandari Amatya said- first, it is difficult to attract women in media, and second, it is difficult to retain them in this profession. Every media house should implement the provision of minimum remuneration to working journalists, they stressed.

Amrita Lamsal opined that Nepali media have brought more negative news than the positive ones while making stories in terms of women issues. The government has fixed the minimum wage of Rs 19,500 to the working journalists at national media while Rs 14,400 to the workers at other media
